development impact through innovations
Introduction
Enterprise Professional Services (EPS) is a Kenyan non-profit organization that aims to contribute to achievement of MDGs by developing and managing innovative health, education, environmental and enterprise activities with the potential to impact the poor through increase incomes and employment creation. EPS works with other organizations to design and implement innovative projects in micro finance, education, health and environmentally sustainable enterprises. As a facilitator, EPS builds capacity within existing organizations to replicate successful pilot projects. Established five years ago, EPS has designed and developed four innovative projects targeting the bottom of the pyramid. These products have been successfully implemented by three organizations in Kenya with support form CGAP, UNDP, Habitat and EU.

History
Enterprise Professional Services Program has a relatively short history. Originally, the organisation was registered as a consultancy firm, providing consultancy services to the NGO sector in Kenya. Its core activities included, proposal writing, strategic planning and training of NGO staff on Project Cycle Management.
In 2001, EPS program ventured into the arena of product development – assisting NGOs to develop new programs in the area of Enterprise Development, especially financial services.
By 2003, EPS had made a name as an organisation driven by innovation in the area of poverty reduction. However, EPS program retained its private sector approach to doing business. It is at this point that EPS program registered as an NGO with focus on innovation in the areas of Enterprise Development, Health, education and Environment. EPS program however still continues to provide consultancy services to the NGOs and private sector as a strategy for financial sustainability
Vision
To be a centre of excellence in innovations for sustainable development
Mission
To contribute to poverty reduction and environmental conservation through innovation in enterprise, health, education and environment.
Strategy
In order to achieve the above, EPS program designs, develops and pilots innovative approaches to poverty reduction and environmental conservation in collaboration with other NGOs, private Sector organisations and government departments. The partnership approach ensures that the innovations are mainstreamed into formal structures that ensure future sustainability.
Target Group
All EPS program activities target the poor and the most vulnerable in society. Our innovations aim to impact the poor and the marginalised by improving their incomes and living conditions. EPS program specifically gives emphasis to activities that increase opportunities for women to participate in economic activities.
However, EPS program recognises its limitations in terms of resources (both financial and human). EPS program therefore partners with other entities (NGOs, Private Sector and governments) to develop and replicate projects that improve the welfare of poor people.
In the past EPS program has designed projects that have targeted Women, Youth and street families.
